My visit to the Emirates Palace

emirates palace

One of my favorite places in Abu Dhabi is the Emirates Palace. It is a luxury hotel which was built as a landmark to showcase Arabian culture. It was built by and is owned by the Abu Dhabi government. The Emirates Palace is the second most expensive hotel built in the world: it cost 3 billion dollars to construct. It functions as a hotel but also several floors are used as private residences of some of the Emirate’s leading dignitaries.

Walking up the pink marbled boulevard that leads to the palace, you can’t help but be taken aback by the size and beautiful color. It is said that the exterior has been designed to match the color of the desert. The whole palace is embellished with ornate furniture and dΓ©cor. It boasts 1002 custom-made Swarovski crystal chandeliers and you can see gold and marble just about everywhere. You may remember it from the movies Fast and Furious 7 and The Kingdom, since both were filmed at Emirates Palace.

In true Abu Dhabi fashion, my friend Gaby and I decided to spend an afternoon at the palace to relax and catch up over a cup of coffee (you know how us ladies always need a couple of hours to vent and catch up πŸ˜‰ ). I decided to wear a pleated maxi dress as the palace does ask visitors to respect local culture and refrain from wearing shorts, flip flops, and other skin-exposing garments. Take a look at the photos below and see how this place really is the epitome of timeless Middle Eastern luxury.

Hi Alisa! Yes it is open in September. They have a parking garage and you can also get dropped off by taxi. Enter through the main entrance & security will show you where the parking garage is at. It’s free of charge!
